There is nothing yummier than the perfect marriage between a generous dollop of cream cheese, a smack of capers and a sprinkle if shaved biltong all carefully constructed on top of your favourite savoury cracker!
We have a few favourite combinations that make our tummies go yum and decided to share them with you! Whip out these delicious little pairs when you’re entertaining or simply feel like a night off of cooking. You guests, and your family – will thank you!
The trick to success with any cracker combo is starting with a high-quality cracker! Our Henro Proto Snacks are a winning foundation for this snack stack!
Start with a perfectly ripe avo, some creamy mayo, a finely diced red onion a little bit of cracked black pepper and everyone’s favourite spice Aromat. Mush the avo with the back of a fork – not too much, you don’t want a paste – chunky is yummy. Mix all the ingredients together and scoop generous amounts of the yummy goodness onto your cracker. Viola! Your masterpiece is ready to be served.
Okay, this one is more for rugby time entertainment or when you want to impress the guests! Get your hands on Henro mini spinners fruit chutney flavoured biscuits and let’s get cracking!
You’ll need SA’s favourite Mrs. Balls Chutney, some cheddar cheese – sliced into thin squares and a good quality piece of biltong, sliced finely.
This recipe is all about the layers… First, carefully place your cheese square onto your mini spinner, then add ½ a teaspoon of chutney. Finally, top your creation with biltong, about two slices make up the perfect mouthful and enjoy! You’ll need to make loads of these, they fly off the plate!
If you like a bit of bite (and we mean spice) with your food, then this is the cracker combo for you! We start construction with a Henro Salted Cracker. You’ll need drained; shredded tuna, minced green chillies, mayo (yes, mayo again – it rocks!) and ½ a finely chopped white onion.
This one is easy, you mix all the ingredients together, place a spoonful on each cracker and finish with a sprinkle of cracked black pepper! No mess, no fuss and ALL the reward!
So for the veggie lovers out there, we thought we’d include our meat-free topping option too!
You can use your favourite Henro cracker for the base of this entre – remember, the bigger the cracker – the more yum!
You’ll need pitted Kalamata olives (marinated overnight in olive oil with crushed garlic and red chilli), a good quality goat’s cheese and some sundried tomatoes (also marinated in olive oil). Spread a generous layer of goat’s cheese onto your cracker followed by pieces of shredded sundried tomatoes. Finish off with slivers of your marinated olives.
